An associate and I went to a blogger conference last year to fit over 100 women in Lee jeans. (Watch the video recap here.) We had a fit booth set up where we got to talk to these women and find the perfect fit just for their body types.
As the day went on we began to see a consistent problem throughout: Women were having problems with the jeans being too big in the waist. So we’d give them a size down and then they were too tight in the hips and thighs.
After seeing this a couple of times in different women we began to realize there was a need that our jeans were not fulfilling. When asked about it the answer was always the same: “I always have this problem with jeans, I just have to wear a belt.”
These women shouldn’t have to wear a belt with their jeans just to get them to fit right!
We had been thinking for some time that a curvy fit was missing from our collection at Lee, and this justified that feeling even more.
I began to think about the women in my life and my sister-in-law came to mind. She’s a dancer turned mother of three, and she constantly has this problem. Even in premium denim! She’ll spend $200 for a pair of jeans and still has to wear a belt with them. That right there is a problem.
We built this pattern from scratch, contouring the waist to get rid of the gapping problem and giving it more room in the hips and thighs for a figure flattering shape.
We decided we needed to bring that premium look to an affordable price point in a jean that really fits! And our Curvy Fit was born.
We are so proud of this jean. We designed it for real women from the ground up. We knew it needed to be contoured in the waist to get rid of that gapping problem, but still give the curvy woman the room she needs in her thighs and hips. We wanted to make sure this product had an authentic look and feel in the denim character but offered the comfort of stretch and a soft hand. And above all, it needed to be flattering and versatile, able to turn from day to night without changing.
Give our Curvy Fit a try — we can’t wait to hear what you think!
