What We’re Listening To: Holly Lavender

Whether your taking advantage of the longer nights by visiting your favorite outdoor venues or putting the final touches on your BBQ’s Spotify playlist, music is at the center of our summers. Great bands are on tour and coming out with new music every week, and this summer is no exception. With all the great music coming out this year (and years passed!) we thought we would check in with Holly Lavender, a resident music lover and the Product Manager for Lee Men’s Denim, to see what she’s been listening to these days.

What music have you been listening to lately?

Holly: Currently I’m hooked on the new Chrissie Hynde album, but I don’t discriminate when it comes to music – I pretty much like it all! I’ve been listening to Kings of Leon, The Black Keys and Shinedown, but I frequently revisit my “stand by’s” too! I’ll always love Elton John, the Beastie Boys, Robert Cray, The Clash, and Tom Petty. There’s also the music my son makes me listen to that I end up enjoying (but don’t tell him that!) like Pitbull, Trey Songz, and Jason Derulo. And if I’m in the mood to get down with my “bad self” (which happens more than I’d like to admit!), I’ll put on some Motown.

What about these artists do you like?

Usually it’s a catchy lyric or beat that draws me to a band or song. It’s also fun to play songs that you grew up listening to when you can associate the song with a particular moment or time in your life.

Are there any bands you are planning on seeing live this summer?

We’re taking our 14 year-old son to see Justin Timberlake at the Sprint Center here in KC. All three of us really like him, and it should bean amazing concert!

Are there any albums coming out soon that you’re excited for?

There are three albums I am really excited for:

  • Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – Hypnotic Eye
  • Marc Broussard – A Life Worth Living
  • Eric Clapton & Friends – The Breeze

Listen to our “Summer is Here” mix

This mix is specially crafted to go with a drink in your hand or to be blasted while the windows are down in your car.

What have you been listening to so far this summer? We’d love some suggestions, so feel free to post them in the comments section below!
