As much fun as the holidays are, they can be down right stressful. Am I right? With a booked event calendar, holiday gift shopping and hosting your own holiday events at home, it’s vital to find ways to decompress so you don’t turn into a giant ball of stress. It’s so not worth ruining the magic that the holidays bring with them. So, I’m going to share some ways that have always helped me cut down on holiday stress.
1. Don’t neglect yourself
Make sure you schedule some all-important “me” time. That could mean doing something as simple as stepping outside to sip a nice cup of coffee. I know my house is less than quiet 99% of the time, so sometimes I just need a few moments of solitude in the morning to de-stress and prepare for the day. In fact, this is a great tip to try when you feel like you’re at your breaking point. Tell your honey that you need a few moments to regroup and snag that “me” time!

2. Don’t sweat the small stuff
It may be cliché … but it’s true. This goes out to those of you who are hosting the holidays at your home. You don’t want your guests to see you stressing out. Instead, just put a smile on your face and promise yourself that you won’t get upset if a few things go wrong. Odds are your guests won’t even notice the mishaps. Instead, they’ll simply enjoy being around their gracious hostess!

3. Dress comfortably
The last thing you want to be is uncomfortable when you’re running around taking care of holiday business. Now that doesn’t mean you have to live in yoga pants. Haha! A cute, cozy sweater, Lee jeans and flats make for a pulled together, yet comfy look that’s perfect to rock for holiday errands.
Here’s the thing about running. One day your legs will stop saying “Really? Are we doing this?” and you will instead hear “How far are we going today?” Trust me this will happen. It’s not an easy sport, but there is such beauty in it. Just you and the miles in front of you. So little equipment required. Many of you tell me you’ll never be a runner, I think there is a runner in all of us. The voice that wants to go and get unplugged. Maybe try listening to it this holiday season. #running #momsrunning #morningmiles @runnersworldmag A photo posted by Nicole Feliciano (@momtrends) on
4. Stay active
It’s amazing how exercise can turn your mood right around. Those endorphins are no joke, people. When you find yourself giving into that icky holiday stress, throw on your kicks and do something active. You’ll feel relaxed in no time!
5. Enjoy your loved ones
The holidays are all about spending quality time with the people who are most important to you. It’s hard to concentrate on your stress when you’re squeezing a sweet baby or cuddling with your significant other. I’ve always thought love could conquer anything … even stress! What are your tips for cutting down your stress during the holiday season? We would love to hear your tips in the comments section below.
