Spring into Denim on Denim

Texas and Canada both claim it’s their traditional “tuxedo,” and for years, they were the only ones fighting for the denim on denim look. But the truth is, this classic combination is surprisingly versatile and chic. When paired with the right washes and accessories, you can jump on board the denim-on-denim trend with ease. After all, this isn’t your first rodeo.

Our 5 rules for mastering denim on denim.

 1.)  Mix your washes.

Ensure your look doesn’t even closely resemble the “tuxedo” by wearing different shades of denim. A lighter chambray top looks great paired with dark skinny jeans and vice versa.

2.)  Throw in a print.

You can mix things up by adding a printed layer such as a floral blazer or yellow and white striped heels.

3.)  Accessorize.

A denim collared shirt looks impressively chic paired with a statement necklace. Look for something in coral or mint to hop on spring’s best color trends.

4.)  Go beyond jeans.

This look goes great with anything denim: shorts, skirts, dresses, vests and jackets.

5.)  Avoid cowboy boots. Or anything western for that matter.
