As the slow-and-serene, sun-drenched days of summer are coming to an end, there’s only one thing on my mind: Fall. The cool-and-crisp season following summer brings a number of my favorite things – crunchy, orange-hued leaves, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, fiercely loyal college football fans (Go Tigers!), and my personal favorite: jeans and boots. Flat or heeled, bootie or knee-high, covered-in-studs or super simple, there’s no denying that boots can up the ante on any fall fashion choice.
Flat or heeled, bootie or knee-high, covered-in-studs or super simple, there’s no denying that boots can up the ante on any fall fashion choice. Check out our favorite styles and how to best rock them this season.
While you might not be hitting the stables this fall, nothing gives off the put-together style vibes of a professional equestrian more than a pair of polished riding boots. Pairing riding boots with a chunky cable-knit sweater layered over a classic chambray shirt and dark denim jeans will create a casual and pulled-together but not overly prepster outfit. Since riding boots are meant to have your denim tucked into them, we recommend going with a skinny, calf-hugging style that won’t cause any excess fabric to gather at the top of the boot.
When it comes to booties, most style-savvy people would think skinny jeans are the be-all-end-all denim option for this shoe style. However, we think that a classic boot-cut jean is also suited for this bite-sized boot. Boot-cut style denim is one of the most versatile and well-liked style for women today – the jean is slim through the thigh, but gives way at the knee for a wider cut that helps to elongate the leg. Pairing this style of denim with a stacked-heel bootie will only add length to your leg while creating a tailored silhouette. We love pairing this duo with a blazer and printed blouse for a look that’s work-ready, but can easily be transitioned for a night out with friends.
For an edgy, undone look, strappy and stud-emblazoned motorcycle boots are an easy choice – these rough-and-tough boots aren’t only for Chopper-riding motorcyclists, ladies. Since this boot often features a lot of stylish elements (think metallic, zippers, studs, straps – you name it!), we recommend keeping your style simple and relaxed. Motorcycle boots are usually looser at the ankle or calf, so a black straight-leg jean paired with a slightly oversized white T-shirt is perfect for creating a look that’s just the right amount of punk rock.
Style Tip: We also suggest pairing chunky Moto boots with a floral feminine dress and dark-wash denim jacket for a fun fashion contrast.
With these tips, you’re ready to hit the sidewalks for any occasion – day or night, dressy or casual. This fall is all about boots, so be sure to stock up and don your favorite pair any time of the week – or all week! How will you be styling your favorite pair of jeans and boots this fall?
