5 Steps to Great Game Day Style

Ultimately, the key to game day style is comfort. The plastic chair or bleachers you’ll be sitting in for the next few hours (if you’re sitting at all), will be uncomfortable enough. Don’t make it worse with ill-fitting, “trendy” clothes that don’t make you feel good. Plus, you want to be able to watch the game. Not fiddle with your top or tug on your pants all day. Just follow these five easy steps, and you’ll be ready in no time. Game on!

1. Denim

Step into your favorite pair of denim shorts or jeans — super comfy, goes with everything, hassle-free.

2. Team shirt

Whether it’s the new jersey you splurged on because “he’s your favorite player!” or a solid-color tank, choose something that supports your team and is lightweight. The lightweight fabric will keep you cool while the sun is still out and your team spirit will shine. Go blue!

3. Water-repellent shoes

This one is often overlooked. Not just the shoes part — most people tend to remember their shoes — But are they water-repellent? Let me put it simply: No one likes wet feet. Sure, the sun is shining now, but a storm could roll in at any time. We have weathermen who try to predict the weather, but they aren’t often 100% correct. Not only can the weather turn on you, but game days mean lots of beer, soda, water, ice cream — you name it, it’s there, it will end up on your shoes. How often have you gotten home from a game and realized there was crud all over your feet? Don’t sacrifice comfort and fun all day for fashion’s sake.

4. Outer layer

It’s not unlikely that you’ll get a little chilly as the sun sets. Bring a sweater you can tie around your waist or an easy denim jacket to throw on. If there’s a chance of rain — be prepared. Wear a rain jacket. Better dry than sorry. (See “Water-repellent Shoes” section above, ICYMI.)

5. Sunglasses

Keep those peepers protected! Missing the big play because you were too busy squinting is the worst. Plus, the sun can do serious damage to your eyes. It’s just not worth the risk.

6. Hat (optional)

A team baseball cap is a very functional add to your game day attire. They further shield your eyes and protect your face and scalp from regretful sunburn. Ladies, they are also great for holding the hair out of your face in the case of wind. Don’t let your hair get in the way of the play.
