How to Transition From Spring to Summer – 5 Style Tips for Guys

Summer is on its way, and perfecting your warm-weather wardrobe usually calls for a few updates. There are lots of reasons you might be looking to add a few pieces to your summer rotation — things just don’t fit the way they used to (don’t worry, it happens to all of us), you wish you had that perfect shoe this time last year or your other half is giving you those none-too-subtle hints that your look is feeling a little tired – and now is the time to make sure you’re set for the upcoming heat. To get a better idea of where to start, we met up with Tim Conlin, the Senior Manager for Men’s Denim here at Lee, to find out what he’s excited about for transitioning from spring to summer. Here’s a breakdown of Tim’s top 5 essentials:

1. Short Sleeve Button-Downs

“Short sleeve button-downs are a great way to look polished and still feel comfortable during the hottest time of year. Sport these in classic solids and chambrays or with subtle patterns. I’ve also been into small prints, or ‘micro-prints’ on shirts this year.”

2. Lightweight Sweaters

“The perfect transitional layers for those days that start off warm and end cool. Get them in cotton for something breathable and easy wearing.”

3. Canvas Sneakers

“These simple shoes are great because you can get them at whatever price you want to pay. They are casual and comfortable, and they can easily be worn for most of the year. Best of all, once they’re worn you can just pick up another pair without breaking the bank.”

4. Light-colored Denim

“Lightweight and light-colored denim, like our Modern Series Straight Fit in Grit or Bobcat, can be new to a lot of guys, but they are super comfortable for those times you just don’t want to wear shorts. They are easy to wear with the rest of your wardrobe and it adds a little variety to your denim rotation.”

5. A Lightweight Denim Jacket

“There is nothing more classic than the Lee denim jacket and there’s a reason for that. It’s the perfect weight for cooler summer nights and it looks good with pretty much everything you own. Plus, when it turns fall, you can throw on a hoodie or sweater underneath and wear it the rest of the year.”

When asked for any last words of advice, Tim was quick to address the importance of investing in clothes that fit well. “Fit makes all the difference – It’s the easiest upgrade you can make to any guy’s wardrobe.”
