One of our top five favorite holidays — Halloween — is upon us. Of course, there are a number of reasons why we love this holiday (treats, tricks and it’s in the fall, duh). But at the top of our list is that it’s a time when you get to step into someone else’s shoes for a day, fully embracing fantasy and theatrics. It’s a great way to bust out of your shell risk-free — You’ll be yourself again in the morning.
But there’s just one problem — You don’t have a costume yet. Don’t sweat it! We’ve come up with four super fun, last-minute Halloween costumes featuring your closet’s favorite staple — denim.
Rosie the Riveter
All you need for Rosie is your go-to denim button-up, your most trusted pair of jeans and a red bandana. Tuck your shirt in, knot the bandana like a headband in the front and cuff your sleeves. If you have a pair of brown combat boots, lace them all the way up. You Can Do It!
Guys, does it get much easier (read: comfortable) than your favorite pair of jeans and a white tee? I don’t think so. The missing piece will likely be a red windbreaker (if you already have one, you’re awesome), but it shouldn’t be tough to find one at your local thrift store. Just slick back your hair and you’ll be the rebel without a cause all night.
Perfect for your child or for the children at heart. Everyone has a favorite flannel shirt (and if you don’t by now, it’s time to make an investment). Tuck it into some dark wash denim and step into a pair of boots — that’s all it takes. Bonus points for a cowboy hat, red bandana or a thick leather belt to match. You’re such a doll.
Where’s Waldo? (Either gender!)
One of our very favorites. Black shoes, blue jeans and a striped tee — They’re wardrobe staples! Seal the deal with a beanie and you’ve found Waldo. P.S. This look is great for the shy guy at the party. Someone finds you hiding in the closet? You were just playing your role! Jump out and yell, “You found me!” before finding a new hiding place.
There you have it! We made Halloween a little easier for you. Now all you have to do is don your festive duds and get the party started!
